I found out about Bare Minerals when my skin started rejecting all of my foundations and powders. That was just before my holiday and I had no time to research any potential replacements. When I had the two spare hours before my flight, I decided to have a quick look in the duty-free and the first stand that caught my eye was the Bare Minerals.

I haven’t heard much about the brand but the name and it’s simplistic packaging caught my eye. I have spoken to the consultant and explained what I need. Now, after being quite gullible in the past when buying new products, I quickly had a quick search online to check for myself and it turned out that the consultant seems to be right – Bare Minerals might actually be what I am looking for.
After clearing a few things up:
● I wanted a mineral powder – no liquid foundation
● I want it to look as natural as possible
● It needs to work for dry & sensitive skin
● It’s not full of chemicals
I decided to give it a try. After the nice lady explained what would work, matched the shades and applied the make up on my face – I instantly liked it. It felt extremely light and non-bulky whatsoever.
Turns out that Bare Minerals is:
● The first brand to popularise mineral makeup
● Free of preservatives, talc, oils and waxes
● Free of fragrances and other chemicals often found in make up
I wanted to try a bit of everything and went for their Get Started® Kit which includes:
● Prime Time™ Foundation Primer, size 15ml
● ORIGINAL SPF 15 Foundation in Medium Beige, size 2g
● MATTE SPF 15 Foundation in Medium Beige, size 1.5g
● Warmth All-Over Face Color, size 0.57g
● Mineral Veil® Finishing Powder, size 0.75g
● Flawless Application Face Brush
● Keep-sake Makeup Clutch
2019 Edit:
This kit seems to be slightly different now.

Prime Time™ Foundation Primer, size 15ml
When I applied it on after moisturiser, my skin felt ridiculously soft and smooth. It definitely keeps the make up on for longer, and is most importantly fragrance free unlike many other primers that I have tried in the past.
I only use it occasionally when in need of a stronger coverage as I feel that the powder does the job well itself (more on that below).

ORIGINAL SPF 15 Foundation in Medium Beige, size 2g
I absolutely love this. At first, the name got me slightly skeptical as my skin does not handle foundation well but this is in a powder form – very light and the complete opposite to any liquid foundation.
The most important: it does not dry out or irritate my skin. The coverage is very good considering it’s in a powder form and looks very natural. For stronger coverage, just apply a bit more and you’re sorted!
I have been using it for over a year now and still love it.

MATTE SPF 15 Foundation in Medium Beige, size 1.5g
Due to my skin being extremely dry, I find the Original Foundation more suitable. I personally think this one is better for oily skin as I find that it dries mine out when used for a couple of days, it is also slightly heavier which is good for fuller coverage.
Saying that, I know a few people who use this one and love it as much as I love the Original Foundation.
Warmth All-Over Face Color, size 0.57g
Because my skin colour is very pale, this is slightly too dark. I also struggled to apply it as it’s in a powdered form and darker to the foundation, I ended up with dark patches and made a huge mess in general – this is due to the fact that I am used to a ‘stone’ bronzer which is much lighter and easier to manage for someone as clumsy as myself.

Mineral Veil® Finishing Powder, size 0.75g
You know how I said the primer made my skin super soft and smooth? This little miracle makes it even smoother and softer.
The veil is especially great for oily skin as it absorbs the oils well, however I find it working as well with my dry skin. Completely weightless – it’s simply bare veil of minerals, great to keep the make up in place and give it a (super) smooth finish.
Similar to the primer, I only use this for special occasions as I like to keep my make up simple and easy due to all of the other skincare I need to do everyday. Because of that I still have some left from the Starter Kit, however at £21 for 9g – I feel it’s slightly expensive.
Flawless Application Face Brush
Personally I am not a huge fan of this brush. I find it to shed a lot and end up with lots of little hairs all over my face when I use it for my bronzer. I haven’t used any other Bare Minerals brushes so this is strictly a review on this specific one.

Keep-sake Makeup Clutch
I love this clutch and use it for my daily make up. It’s a great size and looks a lot more grown up than my other make up bags. It comes with a great little mirror which is perfect for when you’re not at home, unfortunately I broke mine a few days after I bought it, clumsiness.. yes.

To sum it up, from the products listed above – for my everyday make up I mainly use the Original Foundation and for special occasions, I add the primer and veil.
Recently I decided to add the Complexion Rescue™ Tinted Hydrating Gel (£26 for 35ml) to my collection as I received a small sample and really liked it. I wanted something along the lines of a BB cream and besides the fact that the sample worked magic, it also had great reviews. Due to it’s hydration benefits, the gel works very well on dry skin and is probably the first form of liquid make up that does not leave me with dry patches.
Whenever I want more coverage I apply it on after the primer and before my Original Foundation, then finish of with the vail. It’s great and still looks quite natural.

Hey Tiffany!
I either use the bare minerals primer or recently I like porefessional by benefit 🙂
